Yoga The practice of Yoga dates back more than 5,000 years.  Built on exercise, breathing and meditation, it stems from the desire for greater personal freedom, health and long life, and heightened self-understanding.  Yoga means “to join together” and brings body & mind together into one experience.

Yoga postures are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems increasing efficiency and total health.  Breathing techniques are based on the concept that breath is the source of life in the body and increased breath control improves the function of body and mind.  Breathing and exercise prepare the mind for meditation, quieting the mind allowing for healing from everyday stress.  Yoga helps balance emotion, action and intelligence allowing us to be in harmony with ourselves and our environment.

Yoga Classes

Rawls teaches yoga classes that are focused on improved health and well-being. In addition to traditional yoga poses, she incorporates body awareness, breathing techniques, guided imagery, meditation and relaxation to make for a rich yoga practice that helps relieve stress and keeps the body strong, flexible and mobile.   Honor yourself with improved health and fitness by attending a yoga class with Rawls.

Mondays, 6:00 p.m. – Vinyasa Yoga – All Levels

Rawls teaches Vinyasa Yoga at Journey Through Movement, in Peachtree City, Ga. on Mondays at 6:00 p.m.. Vinyasa is a flowing style of yoga that links movements/asanas with the breath.  In addition to this movement the class incorporates body awareness, breath awareness, guided imagery and meditation.  Suitable for all levels.  JTM also has other classes taught by excellent yoga instructors. Thursdays, 5:55 p.m. – Yoga for Wellness

Rawls teaches Yoga for Wellness at the Tyrone Library in Tyrone, Ga. on Thursdays at 5:55 p.m..  This yoga class is taught in a gentle Vinyasa style that is suitable for all experience levels. In addition to traditional yoga poses, it also incorporates body awareness, breathing exercises, guided imagery, meditation and relaxation to make for a rich yoga practice that helps relieve stress and keeps the body strong, flexible and mobile.   Please visit the Tyrone Recreation Department to register and for directions.  First class FREE!  $10 per class,  or 10 class card for $50.  Walkins welcome!  Bring your mat and a blanket or towel.
